Cystic Fibrosis
Cystic Fibrosis (CF), a life-threatening disorder that causes severe lung damage and nutritional deficiencies used to be a genetic mystery, and most people with the disease didn't live beyond their teens. But researchers have made progress in unraveling the genetic basis of CF, which has led to earlier detection. In addition, improved and more consistent treatments now allow people with CF to live into their 30s and 40s and even beyond, and to have fuller, more comfortable lives.

Two of my nieces, Haley and Kristen, were diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis a number of years back and each day are battling the disease. Luckily, they are able to live normal lives by taking daily treatments, and having quarterly examinations. By creating this page on my personal website I am only hoping to raise awareness of this disease, and its need for additional funding. With the funding, a cure can be found, advances in research can occur, and kids like Haley and Kristen can have this great burden removed from their young lives.
